Andrew sat alone at his little corner table as usual, no food infront of him, just staring around at the cafeteria. He looked down at his hands, squeezing them into fists and squeezing his eyes shut. He couldn't help thinking that they were hands of a killer, as he opened his eyes and relaxed his hands on his lap. He let out a heavy breath, steadying himself, as the smell of werewolf, morphadite, and the other creatures' blood wafted through his nose. He clenched his jaw, putting his elbows on the table, putting his hands to his face and running his fingers through his black hair.
The light from up above him on the roof felt blinding to him, even though to everyone else it seemed normal. He stared at it, concentrating until it dimmed a bit. He didn't want to make it too noticeable, but some kids turned their heads to look and give him an annoyed look. He pretended not to notice, taking his sunglasses that he wore almost everywhere and slipping them on. He pulled his iPod out of his jean pocket, unraveling the earphones and putting them in his ears, turning it up full blast as he listened to Three Days Grace. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms, thankful for the music to drown out the loudness around him.
He couldn't help feeling disgusted at them all, laughing with eachother and talking like nothing was wrong. But they didn't understand. Their lives were all perfect. They didn't understand the meaning of hurt, or pain. He stared at them angrily, breathing heavily, muscles stiffened. He almost jumped when he heard a voice unusually close to him, and he realized the voice was talking to him.

Star knows everyone at Bradford Woods and everyone knows her. she is very popular and respected by everyone. No one knows about her secret fear of vampires even though she avoids them everyday but no one notices. One day she and her friends were playing a dare game and her friend dared her to go and talk to the kid sitting in the corner all by himself. Not only was he the kid everyone picked on and the kid that only keeps to himself and is so dark and mysterious, but he was a vampire. one of the only things she is deathly afraid of. She was determined no to show any sign of fear so she immidiatley got up and said, "No problem!" Her heart was racing as she came closer, but she forced herself to calm down. She was finally next to him and she said, "Hi. Andrew, right? Can i sit down?" She waited nervously for an answer.

Andrew sat staring infront of him, his fists clenched and his jaw rigid as the delicious smell surrounded him. His heart was pounding, and he swallowed hard. He was tense and stiff, as he slowly turned his head to face the voice. He hoped she couldn't see that his eyes clenched shut through his sunglasses. He forced himself to take a staggering deep breath, opening his eyes. He opened his mouth, the taste of blood flooding inside. "I... Don't feel comfortable..."
He turned back around, closing his eyes again, hoping she got the message. He tried to focus on his breathing, practically shaking as he breathed in and out. Why was she doing this to him? Hadn't her and her little friends given him enough trouble already? Now she was actually causing him pain. He couldn't handle it any longer, and he put his hand up on the table to cover his mouth and nose. He glanced back to see she was still standing there, and he breathed out in pain.

Star didn't expect that but she was determined to get to know him. She was going to complete this dare no matter what. and she doesn't quit at anything. "I'm sorry. I...just thought...you looked like you could use a friend. And i like to know everyone at this school." She sat down, aware of how awkward it was for both of them, but pretending she was totally comfortable. "Tell me something about yourself." She waited and there was a cold silence. "Please?" She tried again. Waiting, silently begging for an answer.

Andrew couldn't believe this. Why wouldn't she just leave him alone? He felt like his nails were going to break through the cold stone that was his skin, he was squeezing his fist so tightly. He breathed deeply. He decided if he was going to get rid of her, he would have to sacrifice. He opened his eyes and turned to face her, glaring at her through his sunglasses. "I don't need a friend." He said sternly, trying to ignore the burning fire in his throat, and turned away from her.
Just walk away Andrew... Just get up and walk across the room... But something held him down, as if there was a giant weight on his shoulders, pushing him back down into his seat. He leaned against the table, running his fingers through his hair and breathing deeply. When she wasn't leaving, instinct finally took over and he let out a deep growl.

Star was scared now. She was afraid he was going to attack her. She wanted to run and not stop until she was half way around the world. But she couldn't move. She read his mind and realized he wanted to get up and leave, but something was holding him back. She wondered what, or why? But htis made her calm down a little bit. Something told her he wasn't going to hurt her at all. She felt strongs feelings coming from him torwards her but she wondered if they were good, or bad? And did he even know? She was deciding whether or not to tell him that this whole thing was a dare and maybe he would agree to play along if it meant she would leave. "Ok look. If i tell you something about me, will you tell me somehting about you?" She gave him a sweet, innoccent smile hoping it would help, but was almost sure it wouldn't, but she would try anything right now. After he didn't answer, she said, "Ya know, the sooner you tell me about youself, the sooner i leave." She thought for sure that would get him talking.

Andrew couldn't believe it. Wasn't this girl frightened, or at least a bit nervous? But the burn started to ebb off a bit, as if he was growing used to it. But it still burned, and this crazy girl was the cause. Look, not to be rude or anything, but I wasn't really keen on learning something I didn't know about you. I honestly don't give a crap, so if you don't mind, I'm going to excuse myself from this conversation. He really couldn't believe he had managed to say all that without cracking, but this time he didn't give it a second thought and got out of his seat, turning to walk away.

"Wait!" Star almost yelled it without thinking first. She was a little embarassed for saying it so loud and sounding so desperate. "Uhh...what could i do to get you to talk to me? Or atleast spend some time together?-Not like couple together but just like friend together or just...like...aquantances...together..." She blurted everything out so fast exept for the last few words. He probably thought she was crazy by now and she didn't even know for sure if it was still the dare that making her do this, or if it was just her wanting to know about this person that no one knew anything about. Everyone liked Star, and it bothered her that this guys didn't. Or was somehting else making her do this... She blocked these wild thoughts from her mind and came back to reality to see if he would answer, or just keep walking\, and if he did...would she follow?

Andrew stopped, his back facing her. He listened to what she had to say, trying to hide his amusement. He turned to her slowly, his hands in his pockets. She looked up at the light, dimming it just a bit more, when he took off his sunglasses to get a better look at this girl. His eyes a little bit squinted as usual, he slowly scanned her face, his throat burning all the while.
He fought the urge to stay there and stare into her eyes, looking up at the ceiling and around the room with a careless glance. Listen... I'm not really the type of guy you would want to be friends with, alright? I'm a lot different than your other friends... A lot more dangerous, okay? So just stay away, for the both of us... He said in a calm voice, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, looking at her from the corner of his eye.

"You think I'm amusing? Ya i can read minds so thers not much you can hide from me. And I like dangerous and i like being friends with everyone...no matter what." When he took off his sunglasses and looked me in the eye i saw he was actually kind of beautiful. And it was easier to read him now. "I can also tell that deep down, you don't really want to walk away. Why? I do't know. But i think we both want to spend a little time together, whether we want to admit it or not..." She stood still. She couldn't beleive she just said what she said. She wanted to run and hide in a dark alley where no one could find her, but she also wanted to stay right she was...with him. Now she knew for sure this wasn't still part of the dare. She wanted to spend time with him and was determined to do just that. She kept her feet firmly planted in the ground and right then and there she knew she would do whatever it took to get know him.

Christian looked across the room to where Star stood infront of the wierd Junior kid who didn't talk to anyone. But she wasn't making fun of him, she looked as if she actually liked him. A stab of jealousy hit his chest, but he ignored it, watching them with intensity. He looked at his watch, it was WAY past the 5 minutes she was dared to talk to him for. He rubbed the back of his neck, looking around to see if anyone was watching him.
Christian got up from his seat and walked across to where they were standing. He went next to her, putting his arm over her shoulders and looking at her with his toothy smile. Heyyy guys! He said loudly, looking over at the other kid with eyes that said, Good luck, kid. You know, you didn't have to talk this long. I dared you to talk to him for 5 minutes, silly. He smiled at her, and turned back to him, flipping his hair with a triumphant glance at him.

Andrew had almost bought it. He couldn't believe he'd let her get that far. His short amusement had turn into pure annoyance. He took out his sunglasses and put them back on, turning, then turning back for a moment to say: No, we don't both want to spend a little time together. He said angrily, the pain returning, and turned, walking away with his hands in his pockets.

Star looked at Christian in shock. Why did he just do that?!?!?!?!? "Andrew wait!" But it was too late. He was gone. "I can't believe you!!!!" She practically yelled turning back to Christian. She was so mad at him for ruining everything that was just about to happen and so sad Andrew walked away it almost hurt. She felt her eyes starts to water. She didn't know why she was getting so worked up over this guy she doesn't know anything about. She grabbed his arm and threw it off her shoulder. "Why would yo do something like that?" A tear ran down the side of her cheek and she ran off and out of the cafeteria before anyone started to notice.

Christian stared at her in shock. He thought she would glad he got him off her back! Star, what are you talking about?! Did you even look in his eyes? He was shaking! He would have killed you Star! He's a vampire! He's not like us! She threw his arm off her shoulder, and he stared at her in hurt. He felt like he had just been punched right in the gut. He watched her walk away, in tears. Yeah, they've gotten in arguments, but never like this. She'd rather him than me? He thought as he stared after her, looking around to find that almost all his friends were staring at him. He turned away, trying to ignore the choking feeling he felt in his throat. He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand, feeling lost and confused. He turned to where she had gone and ran to catch up with her, his legs feeling slow, sluggish, and hopeless.

Star ran outside and into the forest just to get away. As soon as she was covered by the trees she morphed into her werewolf form. When she was like this she had a beautiful thick golden brown coat that sparkled in the sunlight. She ran for what felt like hours until her legs couldn't go any farther. She came to calm stream with an amazing view of the stars and finally stopped. She morphed back into herself, her face wet with tears. She still didn't know why she was so hung up on the guy. She never felt this way before. She laid down next to the stream and listened to the water and staired into the stars. She felt as if someone was near her, whether they knew she was there or not, but then thought she was just imagining things after what she had been through. She let it go and laid under the stars, unable to get Andrew out of her mind...
