Maria sat at a corner table, not drinking any coffee but reading a long book that she wasn't really into, she just wanted to keep her mind off of... certain things. At that moment the bell on the door rang, signaling that someone was walking into the shop. She turned around, seeing the second last person she'd want to see. She turned back around, putting her arm up so she was covering her face, hoping he wouldn't notice her there.

Michael walked through the doors to Ella's Coffee Shop. He walked up to the conter and got a drinka d when he turned around he saw the girl his brother had fallen so hard for, Maria. He walked over to her and sat down across from her and took a sip of his coffee. "Hey." He started awkwardly. "How've you been lately since..." He didn't want to finish the sentenc eand he knew she didn't want him to either.

Maria gave up hiding, knowing it was no use at this point. She sighed, glancing up and then looking back to her book. I'm quite fine actually, thank you. She lied, not looking up from her book. It was one day, just a flirty fling. I could care less. She said with such sureness of herself she knew he wouldn't be able to catch the lie.

She couldn't be telling the truth. "Would 'just a flirty day' include a kiss? I don't think so." He questioned her. "I know he's not over you. Not even close to being over you and i don't htink he ever will be to be totally honest." He wiated for her to perk up and show signs that she was still in to him.

Maria fought the urge to look up at him with wide, excited eyes. But she kept her eyes down in her book, turning a page innocently. That's too bad. But I'm not interested. She answered him, closing her book and standing up to leave, even though she knew he would try and stop her.

"He's only trying to protect you, you know." He told her hoping she would stop. "You should talk to him." He suggested hopefully. "He really misses, but he afraid to face you because he thinks you hate him and you think he's someone who he really isn't....And he doesn'y know i ever talked to you, even the night it happened..." He said feeling like he was failing to help his brother.

She stopped, closing her eyes and hanging her head down. Well he thought right. She said, opening her eyes and looking back at Michael, sitting back down. It's over. I'm not going back, so you might as well stop trying. She said bravely, crossing her arms over her chest and staring at him from across the table.

Michael smiled. "If you really wanted me to stop trying and you really didn;t care about him...you'd be long gone by now." He was always pretty sneaky and he waited for to save the time and just admit she still liked him, alot and missed being with him.

Maria ignored him, looking away to a group of kids who were making a lot of noise on the other side of the shop. You know... You owe me a date. She said mischeviously, looking up at him with a toothy smile and the look in her eyes that made guys fall head over heals.

Michael knew what she was doing. He didn't even flinch, as if he expected the question. "Ok." He agreed. He got up, walked to the counter, picked up a date from the bowl, and walked back. He tossed it to her, not bothering to sit down. "Here you go. One date. Enjoy it." He started walking to doors to leave. He stopped halfway though the doorway and looked back to say, "Let me know when you're ready." And continued out the door.

Maria sat frozen in shock, then turned to watch Michael go. She jumped from her seat, running out to him and grabbing his hand to make him stop. Okay, I'll talk to him. But if we get back together... I feel like that won't be the last broken heart in the relationship... She said, looking up into his big blue eyes.

"Maybe your right." Michael paused and looked at her. "But maybe your wrong. Remember that- You can be wrong too." They walked back to the dorms and he told Maria, "Go wait in the lounge and i'll get him to come down there, but remember, i had nothing to do with this! Got it?

Maria sat down in a lounge chair, nervous. She suddenly had an idea and ran up to her dorm and then back to the lounge, sitting back in the chair, holding his coat. She watched the fire until she heard footsteps coming down the stairs, and she braced herself to see his face again.

Michael walked through the door to where he lived and found Chris still laying in his bed. "Come on man." Mike looked at him, still next to the door. "Come downstairs and do something. It'll take your mind off things." He said, careful not to say the lounge so it wasn't obvious what he was doing. "I don't know." Chris wasn't sure if he wanted to do anything at the moment. "I just kinda want to be alone." Michael let out a sigh, plenty loud for his brother to hear. "Just for a little bit, like, half an hour, tops. If you still want to come back up, you can. Deal?" Chris thought about his offer and decided if he did it, Mike would have to leave him alone for a while. He sighed, but go this feet. "Fine. I'll go. But after you have to leave me alone." Michael smiled and said, "No problem." Micael lead the way down to the lounge. CHris was paying attention to anyhting at all and almost ran into three walls. He couldn't Maria out of his mind. He walked though the lounge doors, looking at the ground the whole way. When he looked up, he saw her. It was too late to turn and run back upstairs. "Oh great!" He exclaimed. "Now i'm hilucinating!"

Maria looked behind her, where Chris started to walk into the lounge. He did look like he was a wreck, and Maria hoped she didn't look that bad. She stood up nervously, trying to get this out of the way. She walked up to him quickly, looking at him in the eyes, her heart racing. She stopped a little too close to him for her comfort, but it was something that felt natural to do around him. She forced herself to look down from his eyes to his coat, breathing slowly. Um... You forgot this in the cave... I didn't know if the vampire was still in there or anything, but I thought I should grab it for you... She said nervously, lifting the coat up hesitantly. She looked back up at him, wanting to say something, but her voice wouldn't come.
